Following up on that note, here's a great quote from Bob White on Kenpo, sparring, and being in shape:
"I do not believe that kenpo is all about the self defense techniques. I believe the techniques are great and they help deliver concepts and principles. The problem occurs when people start thinking the techniques are all there is. There is something about the illusion that you win everytime that is just not real. A major part of kenpo is hitting your opponent as many times as you can without getting hit yourself. If you are not in shape, fatigue will set in, and you will get hit. If you are not in shape you will not be able to move quickly to get out of the way. If you are not in shape your survivability is compromised. Now to me this is logic. Ed Parker based our art on logic."
And # 8, exercise helps you have breath when sparring at Victory Karate.
