FAQ

Where is the class located?
  • VKfit meets in a private gym; location is given only to registered members. New clients are welcome, but must be accepted and cleared before joining, which may include background and/or credit check.

When do you have class?
  • Class is every Tuesday night. VKfit, which is open to both VKfit and Victory Karate members, starts at 8:00pm and wraps up by 8:30pm. The VKfit members are then excused, and the Victory Karate class then proceeds afterwords until 9:30pm. We also have field trips, seminars, and guest instructors, which might alter class meeting times and locations. We are off Thanksgiving week, the weeks of Christmas and New Year's Day, and any holidays that might fall on class day.  There may also be field trips to other facilities and locations in lieu of class.

I've never done anything physical before. Can I still join?
  • Yes! But here's the disclaimer: This is NOT a franchise business for the masses. This is a privately-run, championship-caliber program. The workouts are highly rigorous and demanding. Not everyone has the work ethic, desire, or capacity to do what we do. This is what separates us from the commercial McGyms down the street. This doesn't mean that everyone has to be a world-class athlete to participate. In fact, your commitment to train and constantly improve is far more important than any physical abilities (Though a good sense of humor certainly helps). Yes, beginners are welcome. But only those who "fit" will be invited and accepted to train with us. The workouts and curriculum both quickly weed out those who lack the commitment to make themselves and those around them the best they can be (iron sharpens iron).

Can I really get fit with only one VKfit workout class per week?
  • Yes! But you will need to follow the workouts on the blog either on your own or in private training during the week. The VKfit workout class allows you to learn the proper techniques, as well as compete head to head with the other members. Only in the VKfit class atmosphere will you be able to truly push yourself beyond your own comfort zone.

What's the difference between VKfit and CrossFit, or P90X?
  • There are similarities to the programming, but that is to be expected since the human body varies very little. P90X is a fitness DVD that is dependent solely on the user working out at home by himself. There is no feedback for poor form, or specific encouragement and inspiration from others as you're working out. Purchasers of the P90X program most likely end up having their DVD set on the shelf collecting dust.

CrossFit is more similar, in that it offers a workout blog to follow at home, and commercial affiliate gyms to take classes and get instruction. But the gyms are expensive; you'd need to attend 4-5 classes per week to get anything close to getting your money's worth. And the workouts at home require heavy weight equipment that can be extremely expensive and take up an enormous amount of space.

VKfit offers a workout blog to follow at home. You can choose to use heavy weight equipment, or inexpensive alternatives found around your home as posted on the blog. There is a class where you can get instruction and coaching, as well as encouragement and inspiration from the others in class as you're working out. It is the best of both worlds. As stated, "VKfit is the alternative to the crowded, meat market McGyms and McHealth clubs, as well as the lonely workouts at home with the McFitness DVDs that clutter your home and offer you no feedback or interaction."

I can't make it to the class time, but I would still like to train. Is private training available?
  • Yes! VKfit offers private training in an equipped private gym facility for up to 4 people per time slot. Contact the instructor for more info.
